Where Contradictions Dance: Books, Booze, and Chaos
Cafébrairie 33 opened its doors in April 2025. But in truth, the space had been living inside us long before the keys turned in the lock. We wanted to create a place where contradictions could dance: books and booze, culture and chaos, ideas and bodies. A place where you can drink a glass of wine while reading poetry, or scream along to Arabic pop music five minutes later.
Our Philosophy
A Space of Unapologetic Freedom Where No One Shrinks to Fit
Stereotypes often force people to choose between escapism and depth, between culture and fun. 33 refuses that choice. It’s a space of freedom: intellectual, emotional, and physical. It’s a place where no one has to shrink to fit. Where being loud, curious, tender, angry, or wild is not just allowed; it’s celebrated.
Culture doesn’t live in museums or archives. It lives in bodies, in voices, in disagreement, in late-night arguments over a great single malt. That’s what we’re preserving at 33: not culture as a product, but culture as a practice. As something alive, political, and ever-evolving.
Joumana & Rikan
While Rikan is a mixologist and comes from an F&B background, Joumana is a writer who believes deeply in the transformative power of language. So when they both imagined this space, literature wasn’t an accessory: it was the backbone.
Joumana personally curated a selection of books: feminist, radical, philosophical, erotic, transgressive, that reflect the kind of conversations that 33 wants to ignite. Not just books to be read, but books that read you back. Books that stir something dangerous, beautiful, and new. On the other hand, Rikan curated a selection of signature cocktails that have been named after famous international writers and artists.
Together, Joumana and Rikan imagined a place where culture, emotion, freedom, and entertainment coexist naturally—exactly what Cafébrairie33 became.

Our Vision
The response from the community has been deeply moving. People walk in expecting a café or bar, and they stay for the words, the uplifting energy, the unexpected sense of belonging. Some come for the music and leave with a book. Some come for the book and end up dancing. That’s the kind of alchemy we dreamed of.
We want 33 to become a safehouse for bold thinking and unapologetic joy. A haven for those who feel like misfits elsewhere. A place that reminds people of what’s possible when fear isn’t running the show.
But whatever we do, we’ll do it on our terms.
